Optometrist Position Available
Unique opportunity for a motivated optometric associate to join thriving multi-location Ophthalmology/Optometrist practice with high pathology including cataract, refractive, diabetes and glaucoma patients. Ideal candidate will be personable, energetic, and willing to network with colleagues. Full-time position preferred; competitive salary, relocation/signing bonus plus production incentives; great community; full use of license.
Bonner Eye Clinic utilizes Optos, Zeiss Cirrus OCT, Epic Refracting systems and certified technicians and scribes to assist our Dr.s with patient care.

Full-Time Ophthalmic Front Office Specialist
Location: Grand Rapids, MN – Bonner Eye Clinic
Bonner Eye Clinic is seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Full-Time Front Office Ophthalmic Specialist to join our busy Grand Rapids team. We are a patient-focused ophthalmology practice known for our exceptional care and welcoming environment.
Position Overview:
As a Front Office Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, ensuring they feel welcome and supported throughout their visit. You will play a key role in scheduling appointments, managing patient check-in/check-out, handling insurance information, and assisting with administrative needs to keep our clinic running smoothly.
Qualifications:
- Previous medical office, administrative, or customer service experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with scheduling, insurance verification, or EHR systems is a plus
- Professional, friendly, and patient-centered approach
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients in a professional and welcoming manner
- Schedule and confirm appointments for multiple providers
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes
- Verify insurance information and collect copays or balances
- Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and direct calls as needed
- Support the clinical and administrative team with daily tasks
- Maintain accuracy in patient records and clinic documentation
- Intake faxes and schedule referrals
- Minor ophthalmic phone triaging
Schedule:
- Standard business hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Schedule subject to change depending on provider needs
- Clock-in and out times can range from 7:30AM to 5:00PM
- Scheduled to stay late on some evenings if patients are still present

Full-Time Ophthalmic Scribe – Will Train

Bonner Eye Clinic is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Full-Time Ophthalmic Scribe to join our busy Grand Rapids team. We are a patient-focused ophthalmology practice known for our exceptional care and welcoming environment.
Position Overview:
As an Ophthalmic Scribe, you will be responsible for accurately documenting patient encounters in real time, allowing our ophthalmologists and optometrists to focus fully on patient care. You will work closely with our ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, and the care team to ensure accurate records, smooth workflow, and excellent patient experiences.
Qualifications:
- Previous medical scribe or clinical documentation experience preferred, but not required
- Strong typing and computer skills with attention to accuracy required
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, or ophthalmology is required
- Excellent listening, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to confidentiality
Responsibilities:
- Accurately document patient history, exam findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans during exams
- Enter data into the electronic health record (EHR) in real time
- Support providers with order entry for diagnostic testing, prescriptions, and procedures
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of patient charts before visit completion
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, providers, and technicians to maintain workflow efficiency
- Assist in maintaining compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies
- Required to obtain Ophthalmic Scribe Certification within 1 year of employment
- Required to cross-train and work towards Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COA) in the future
Schedule:
- Standard business hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Schedule subject to change depending on provider needs
- Clock-in and out times can range from 7:45AM to 5:00PM
- Scheduled to stay late on some evenings if patients are still present

Full-Time Ophthalmic Technician – Will Train

Bonner Eye Clinic is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Full-Time Ophthalmic Technician to join our Grand Rapids team. We are a patient-focused ophthalmology practice known for our busy but exceptional care and welcoming environment.
Position Overview:
As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will work directly with our ophthalmologists and optometrists to deliver high-quality patient care. You will assist with clinical testing, patient workups, and documentation, ensuring our providers have the information needed for accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
Qualifications:
- Previous ophthalmic or medical assisting experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
- COA, COT, or other ophthalmic certifications a plus but not required
- Strong communication and patient service skills
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in clinical documentation
- Comfort with computers, medical software, and electronic health records (EHR) required
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, or ophthalmology is required
Responsibilities:
- Perform patient intake including history, visual acuity, and preliminary testing
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual fields, OCT, and fundus photography
- Assist providers with in-office procedures
- Document findings and input information into the EHR accurately and efficiently
- Educate patients on treatments, in-clinic and surgical procedures, and medications as directed
- Maintain exam rooms, instruments, and supplies
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure excellent patient flow and care
- Required to obtain your Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) within 1 year of employment
- Required to cross-train and work towards Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) in the future

Full-Time Ophthalmic Optician – Will Train

Position Overview:
As an Optician, you will play an important role in assisting patients with eyewear selection, fitting, and adjustments, as well as supporting our clinical team with optical and medical needs. You will also assist with contact lens ordering and work closely with our ophthalmologists, optometrists, and technicians to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Qualifications:
- Optician license preferred but not required
- Medical or optical knowledge/background recommended
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Attention to detail and a passion for helping patients
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with selecting and fitting eyewear
- Perform eyewear adjustments and repairs
- Assist with contact lens ordering and inventory
- Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and frame care
- Process eyewear orders and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists, providers, and technicians to ensure smooth patient care
- Educate and train patients on contact lens insertion and removal techniques
- Required to obtain your ABO (American Board of Opticianry) and/or your NCLE ( National Contact Lens Examiner) within 1 year of employment
